UMS: Bon ODORI 17/12/2016 & finance Training

Bismillah

Today has been fruitful and full of new experiences.

Last night I stayed back in my office till 8pm to complete my training materials. It is the first time that I am conducting a 4 hour technical training. After completing my slides I went home and continued to check up on my questionnaires. I had one question which did not sound right. I re-did it and had to re-print for my colleagues.
The next morning I sort of woke up late. I actually got up at 4:30am but went back to sleep only to wake up again at 6am!
When I arrived at the office it was already 7am and I had to quickly set up the training room, my notes and the questionnaires.
The training went on smoothly and there were a few times I had to stop to drink water. Who knew a 4 hour training session could be so exhausting for my throat! I am glad that the feedback for the training was good but every time I looked to the back and saw my superior smirking I kept getting nervous. haha. I have huge regard for her so it was like being a teacher under the watchful eye of a great master.... Sort of.
So right after my training I evaluated their questionnaires and emailed out my thanks for their attention during the training.
Upon returning home I had a slight headache and had to go to sleep. Results from an entire day of nerves and late night preparations.
I woke up at 6pm and had to rush to wear my yukata because I made plans with my sister Rhubaica to join UMS Bon Odori.

The event was so much fun! They had a japanese tea ceremony that I wanted to join but was too shy to. Maybe next time. They also had aikido, kendo and kempo performances. There was also a cool band performance by some japanese auntie and uncles called JAM. The japanese club even put on a senbonzakura performance which was cool.
Lastly we joined the bon dance which was SO MUCH FUN! Going round the stage in simple steps was enjoyable. Baica was disappointed there were no mochi's for sale but I did suggest perhaps next year we could open a booth! haha. I could make tori katsu sandwich, onigiri balls, gyoza and mochi! Maybe also sell my own drawings and clear out old manga magazines. Perhaps.
The event was until 11pm but we had to go home earlier because the university is quite a distance from my house.
Overall it was such an enjoyable day. I feel really blessed this month. So much fun, good news from IATSS, visiting my loved ones in KL and among other good things.
Alhamdulillah for everything. The sad thing is even though I am here enjoying life there are still people around the world that are not as lucky. Aleppo and Rohingya's I pray you could one day achieve peace. I would never imagine the pain they go through.

To end my post as usual I give thanks to Allah for another day He gave to me. Alhamdulillah

Jolly day

Bismillah

Hi blog. It's been sooooooooooooooooo long. Last post was in November. It felt like decades (hyperbole).
I'm sleepy and its 11:10pm. I've got work tomorrow but I still want to post something (anything) to make it seem like I at least tried to post something (anything) in December.

It's going to be 2014 in another 6 days. I just received my letter of promotion. Now I'm an executive and my salary went up by RM200. It's a paltry amount compared to what my other friends are earning but I've long learned there is no use comparing when ones life is ones own.

Seasons greetings to all Christians and Catholics out there. Its a holy day today to celebrate the birth of Christ and celebrate love and warmth with loved ones. Have a jolly one.

My granny passed away a few days back (17th December 2013). It was heart breaking for my dad since he did not manage to say his goodbyes. I cried a bit on the first day. Just remembering her fragile hands, her stern remarks and her cute quirks made me really miss her. Inalillahi wa inna ilaihi rojiun.

One more update. My dad bought a new saga for his company. It looks a lot like the car my friend has. I was thinking of getting a car but then again I don't see any immediate need for it. I'll just concentrate on my classes for now.

At some point in time, I have started to wonder about whether or not I'm reaching nearer to my goals or just drifting further. Sometimes the sense of what is going on 'today' makes me forget about my 'tomorrows'.

That is all for now.

Alhamdulillah.

Muharram - Feeling a little awesome

Bismillah

I'm on annual leave today and I spent the morning going through my highschool diary and my old blog posts from my university days.

To sum it up, I was a brat in highschool. However my university blog posts are quite dear to me. Unfortunately all are online. I'll have to plan a day to print them all out and properly keep a hardcopy on hand.

I'm also quite proud of my poetry. (I'm not bragging) Everytime I read them I always feel like it was someone else who wrote it. "This can't be written by me!" That's the feeling I get each time.

I guess writing something and re-reading them years later sort of gives it a different feeling. It's so cool and I can't describe the feeling well but whoever does what I do will probably understand what I mean.
If you have a diary or blog but rarely read what you have written in the past I suggest you do it. Read what you have written and see how much you have changed. It's truly an indescribable feeling.

Alhamdulillah - today I learned more about myself and what wishes I had made in the previous years. Salam Muharram everyone.

Voting for a Stranger

Bismillah

Due to weddings and elections going on in reality, my dreams were invaded. Dreamt I was going to election and I can't remember the name of the person I'm voting. Sad that I don't even know the 'character' of the person I'm voting. So technically WHO am I voting for? The party with the most well phrased manifesto? The party who is most praised on tv and the internet?

We no longer KNOW the people we vote for. We just know them from what others say about them in the media and what they say during talks.

I'm kinda depressed that I'm going to go vote for people I don't know.
For me character of a person was most important when choosing a leader but I can't say with certainty that I know who I'm voting for. Should I perhaps have gone to visit the representatives houses?

My mind is filled with thoughts like these and sadly I can't come up with any great solution. So today I go to the voting polls with a heavy heart and hope that my sad efforts will be rewarded.

It is not men that turn the hearts of people. It is Allah S.W.T.. If I can't trust the people or the media, I can at least be comforted that I can trust in Him.

Alhamdulillah

Old folks are just cute

Bismillah

Today I joined my office mates and boss for a visit to an old folks home in Papar called Holy Family. The hall was filled with little trinkets of Xmas decorations and two xmas trees. Our company performed some Xmas songs (I didn't sing, just clapped hands in the background).

We had a little time for some bonding session with the old folks and they're just too cute. One even gossiped with my colleague. Hahaha.

I think whenever I see the hands and feet of old folks I always get teary. Just imagine what those hands and feet went through to bring up their children. Some of the old folks had really sad stories but I'm glad the lady I was talking to had children to visit her.

Why are Xmas songs so catchy? Even though I don't want to sing, it keeps replaying in my head.

Alhamdulillah

My graduation and the memories of running

Bismillah

I don't want to think of unpleasant things. Those are reserved for bad days. For now I'll think 'I'm thankful I met you' and 'I wish you the best in life'. To you who hated me, to you who were just friends for benefits and to my dear dear good friends. I'm blessed to meet the people I met and I'm sure there are many friends in the future as well.

Raya. The day of victory.

Bismillah

If Lailatul Qadr is the Night of Power then Raya would be the day of Victory. This raya went by in the blink of an eye but Alhamdulillah it feels so precious this year.
Of course I failed to khatam the Quran but I managed to read half which is an improvement compared to last year.
This year during the last 10 days of Ramadhan I actually managed to do 3/10 nights of late night prayer. Which is so much more than what I did last year.
This year i gave to people more than what I did last year.
This year i helped around in kampung more than last year.

This year Eid really felt like victory. Maybe not a huge victory but still victory... compared to last year.
May all our Eid's be better victories compared to our last years.

Alhamdulillah

p.s. Since my grandma's already really sick this year might be the last Ramadhan and Eid I spend with my relatives. I'm quite sad and I hope it really won't be the last time I go back to kampung for Raya. T_T
I love my relatives. Monopoly everyday, cooking in the kitchen together, rushing to use the toilet and the laundry machine. It's these small things that make a family REAL. :')

Clubbing Days

Bismillah

Right after our EMiNA meeting our president just HAD to show us this videos and make me feel like crying (I didn't cry but I really am going to miss my clubs). Darn.

These two videos were created by my senior EDO. Both events I joined and I miss those days (minus the drama that I wish I never knew about).

Jom Usrah and Sister Outing

Bismillah

Sister outing and Jom Usrah were both programs by Institusi Usrah. Sister Outing was conducted in a homestay located in Putrajaya Precint 18. It was tiring but very fun. I felt like it was 'our' house and that we were all housemates.. all 25 of us. Love the girls so much. The food cooked was delicious and I had loads to eat during the weekend. :)
